Passive-Aggressive Unsubscribe Messages: eGain
Posted on November 20th, 2017
I’ve mentioned before that companies may engage in manipulative passive-aggressive messages when you unsubscribe.
Today, I received one from eGain. Here’s the commentary for unsubscribe (honestly, not as bad as many others):
But it gets worse. When you actually go to unsubscribe, it doesn’t automatically use the email address that they are spamming. Further, they attempt to gather another email address from you in the process.
Finally, they add a “verification” step to further slow down and block your attempt to free yourself from their spam.
